Talk Talk
Been listening to a lot of Talk Talk today. I've owned The Colour of Spring for a while. Today I was listening to the two most recent CDs: Spirit of Eden:
and Laughing Stock:
Most recent is something of a misnomer here. Spirit of Eden was released in 1988, while Laughing Stock was 1991. Spirit of Eden is more accesible: you can feel that Laughing Stock is even further off in the avant-garde direction. Anyway, great band, and un-like pretty much any other band you can think of.
Reading some interviews with Mark Hollis, the subject of the band Can kept coming up. Apparently a German rock band of the early 70s they seemed to be a big influence on the singer. The album Tago Mago in particular was mentioned. I tried listening to it for a bit but it was a little "out there" for me today. Maybe another time.
